Spot the Leopard Gecko
Leopard Gecko's originates from places like the highlands of Asia, throughout Afghanistan and in parts of northern India. Spot, our female Leopard Gecko, lives on a diet of Large Locusts and Crickets, and has had this diet for her whole life. Meal Worms are also an option to feeding Leopard Geckos, although we find Crickets and Locusts are better because Meal Worms are full of starch and fat which they find harder to digest.
Spot lives in a Vivarium, which is a wooden tank, where, (in this particular case), has three wooden walls, floor and ceiling and a glass sliding front door. Spot needs a UV and a heat light to give her a feeling of home, helping her with mental health, and to keep her at a suitable temperature for her skin. Spot needs one side of the tank hotter than the other so she can cool off and have different temperatures at her choice. She also needs spraying with clean Repti-safe water so she can have the correct amount of humidity. We also include sand and bare, thick, small, tree branches for her to climb, as well as several huts, for resting and climbing.
We feed spot once or twice a week, and has a water bowl, which is topped up regularly to keep her hydrated. Spot is nocturnal, but occasionally appears in the day. We love our Leopard Gecko so much, and we hope you love yours as much as we love ours. Thank you for reading and we hope this information was helpful to you.

Poseidon the Map Turtle
Map turtles originate from the US. My map turtle, Poseidon
is just reaching a year old. He unlike older turtles eats a nutritious blend of
turtle pellets called ‘Turtle and Terrapin Complete Food’, yet when he grows to
double his current size he can start eating live crickets. He is a friendly
being to familiar faces but tends to prefer hiding in the water. Poseidon is
still rather small and requires a day lamp, thermometer, filter and sometimes a
heater. His glass tank is filled with water, a glass platform, fake plants and
smooth pebbles.
Even though some may think that the only animals with
personalities are dogs and cats, every animal has one, yet some disguise it
more than others. Turtles, have incredible personalities, Poseidon is cheeky,
fast and greedy. He spends most his time in water and attacks his food as soon
as it enters the water, he also seems to have swimming competitions with
himself through the plants.
Poseidon needs feeding once a day, at the time you would
have your breakfast. I rotate his food from ‘Frozen Turtle Food’ and ‘Turtle
Complete Food’. His lamp needs to be turned on when I wake up and needs to be
turned off before bed. The filter is always on and the thermometer is stuck
onto the glass. The thermometer has a green and yellow section. It is ideal for
the temperature to stay in the green or yellow section, yet if it goes under
you must add a heater that can be turned on during the day, in sync with the
lamp. If the temperature goes over, it is recommended to remove your turtle and
refill your tank or turn your heating down. Finally, your turtle requires
Reptisafe, an instant water conditioner. Your turtles’ water MUST be cleansed.
It is recommended to fill a bucket or two and add a certain amount of Reptisafe,
(see box for amount) and leave overnight or for a day. This is important as you
need to make sure your turtle is healthy and is suitable for their shell and
skin.
Poseidon is a healthy young turtle, who should live for
another 24 years, he will grow larger and friendlier. Your turtle is like your
family, keep them safe and care for them like you would for every other person.

Welcome to the blog!
Hello There!
We are Bea and Ike, we look after and keep animals, many of which are Tropical. We have decided to start this blog, because we want to share our pets and knowledge of animal husbandry with you.
On this blog, we will be posting videos of our animals, how to look after them, what their diet consists of and many other useful things! An example of some of the videos we may be posting, is rescuing a baby Newt we found trapped in a swimming pool, helping it recover and releasing it into the wild. Or how to look after your very own Map Turtle!
We will also include things that we recommend, like documentaries and books, (fictional and not).
We would also like to tell you a bit about ourselves. We love David Attenborough's work, which we think is very inspirational, we both love creative activities; reading, drawing and writing. But one of our favourites, is animals. They are so fascinating, and have so many hidden qualities, (another reason for doing this blog).
We really hope you enjoy watching and reading this blog. Looking forward to posting our first video soon!!!
